At St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, we profess the faith handed down to us through Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the teaching authority of the Church. As Catholics, we believe in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, founded by Jesus Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit.
The Creed: Our Profession of Faith Each Sunday at Mass, we proclaim the Nicene Creed, the summary of our faith that unites us with Catholics throughout the world. In this Creed, we profess our belief in: -God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, who has made all things in love and wisdom. -Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, died, and rose again for our salvation. -The Holy Spirit, who gives life to the Church and guides us in truth and holiness. -The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, through which God continues to teach, sanctify, and lead His people. -The forgiveness of sins, through the mercy of God, given to us especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. -The resurrection of the body and life everlasting, as we hope for the fullness of life with God in heaven.
God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit We believe in one God in three divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Creator of all things, Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior, and the Holy Spirit dwells within us, guiding the Church and leading us to holiness.
Jesus Christ: Our Lord and Savior We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, who became man for our salvation. Through His death on the cross and resurrection, He redeemed us from sin and opened the way to eternal life. He is present with us today, especially in the Holy Eucharist, where He gives us His Body and Blood as spiritual food.
The Church: The Body of Christ We believe that the Catholic Church is the family of God on earth, established by Christ and entrusted to the apostles. Through the sacraments, the teaching of the Church, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are nourished in faith and sent forth to share the Gospel.
The Sacraments: Encounters with Christ We believe that Christ instituted seven sacraments to give us His grace:
Baptism – Our initiation into God’s family and the forgiveness of original sin.
Confirmation – The outpouring of the Holy Spirit to strengthen us in faith.
Holy Eucharist – The real presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread and wine.
Reconciliation (Confession) – God’s mercy and forgiveness for our sins.
Anointing of the Sick – Healing and strength for the suffering and dying.
Holy Matrimony – A sacred bond between husband and wife.
Holy Orders – The calling of men to serve as deacons, priests, and bishops.
Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition We believe that God’s Word is revealed in the Bible and through the Sacred Tradition of the Church. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Church faithfully teaches and preserves the truths handed down from Christ and the apostles.
Mary and the Saints We honor Mary, the Mother of God, as our model of faith and discipleship. Her 'yes' to God's plan inspires us to trust in God's will for our lives. We also look to the saints, holy men and women who have gone before us and continue to intercede for us. Their lives show us how to follow Christ with courage, love, and humility.
The Pope: Our Shepherd on Earth We believe that the Pope is the successor of St. Peter, entrusted with leading the Church and preserving the unity of our faith. Through his teaching and example, he calls us to live as faithful disciples of Christ in the world today.
Our Call to Justice, Service, and Mercy Faith is not only something we believe—it is something we live. As followers of Christ, we are called to serve the poor, the sick, the imprisoned, and the marginalized. At St. Thomas the Apostle, we put our faith into action through:
Outreach ministries to those in need, including the hungry, homeless, and those in hospitals and prisons.
Social justice initiatives, advocating for the dignity of all people and the protection of human life.
Care for God’s creation, working to be good stewards of the environment and safeguard the earth for future generations.
Catholic Education and Formation We believe in the importance of lifelong faith formation. Our PreK-8 Catholic school provides a strong foundation in faith and academics, helping children grow in knowledge, character, and service. Beyond the classroom, we offer programs for youth, young adults, and adults to deepen their faith through prayer, study, and community.
Join Us in Living the Faith We invite you to pray with us, grow with us, and serve with us. Whether through the Mass and sacraments, ministry involvement, or acts of charity, there are many ways to live out the Gospel. Together, we strive to follow Christ more closely and bring His love to the world.
