With these words Pope Francis calls us to communion with all humanity in the work of protecting and nurturing His gift of Creation. Lofty endeavor, lofty goal accomplished with many simple, “down to earth” acts. Save energy: Fix window and door drafts; turn the lights off when you leave the room. Save water: Repair those leaky faucets; shorten your showers. Save lives: Contribute to food banks, check the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany’s website for opportunities to help the community, or donate to the Diocesan Appeal. Learn about companies that embrace sustainable practices and give them your business. Take a few minutes to google and read about the concept that nature has rights. Speak and write with words that evoke kindness. Pray.
