Reduce Waste: Go to a Repair Café
Reduce the number of broken items cluttering your home without increasing the waste in our landfills. Take these items to a Repair Café where clothes, lamps, appliances, toys and furniture are made functional again.
At a Repair Café, experts in multiple fields donate their time and talent to assist attendees at no cost to restore their possessions to use.
The Repair Café is the creation of Martine Postma of Holland. She hosted the first Café in Amsterdam in 2009. Its success led to the formation of the current international non-profit Repair Café organization.
Within our area, a Repair Café will be Jan. 11, 2020 from 10 am to 2pm in the Schenectady County Public Library. Saratoga, Rensselaer and Castleton-on-Hudson, among other areas, also host Repair Cafés.
