In 2017:
40 million US adults and children lived in food-insecure households (
most recent USDA data)
Food insecurity is “a household level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food.” (
USDA)
Food pantries like Bethlehem’s pantry; St. Vincent DePaul’s, St. John’s/St. Ann’s, and the Regional Food Bank are critical to easing food insecurity in our community. In addition, the pantries often provide items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, laundry detergent, bar soap, toilet tissue. To continue their mission of caring for those in need amongst us, the pantries and Food Bank look to the community for donations of products, funds and time.
St. Thomas parish collects pantry donations during all Masses on the fourth Sunday of each month. For more information about this, call: 518-439-4951. Bethlehem Pantry donations can be dropped off at: Town Hall, Bethlehem Library and the Bethlehem YMCA. All items should be non-perishable and not expired.
