Pope Francis teaches us that “Nurturing and cherishing creation” is the will of God. It is “a command,” the Pope asserts, “God gives not only at the beginning of history, but to each of us.” As we repeat today’s responsorial refrain … “Here I am Lord, I come to do your Will”…we are acknowledging and accepting this command. Each day we have an opportunity to fulfill His Will: in the practice of civil discourse in-person and online, in prayer for peace and justice. As we choose to protect the environment by selecting re-useable products and recycling, share our resources by supporting food banks, not only during the holidays, but throughout the year, commit to zero waste and engage in our Parish committees such as Public Policy, Prayer Chain, Meal Ministry, Mercy House meals or Creation Care Team, we are living the Will of the Lord.
