Protect our beaches

1. Choose reusable containers for any food or drinks you bring to the beach.
2. Dispose of your trash in the proper receptacles off the beach.
3. Don’t leave broken chairs, umbrellas and toys on the beach. These can entangle and harm marine animals.

It is reported that 40 percent of the litter found on our beach comes from the public, with 60-80 percent of that being plastic waste that poisons our waters and the marine life.

Protect our mountains

1. Stay on the path when you hike. Protect the beauty of the forest without trampling on the delicate life growing there.
2. Build your campfire safely. Douse it completely.
3. Burn the campfire wood where you buy it. Don’t bring it home. It can be infested with bugs that will infect the trees in your home environment.

Off-trail hiking can cause

• Large scale erosion
• Damaged vegetation
• Disruption to wildlife
• Altered hydrology
• Widening of trails
• Increased muddiness
