We come together again this weekend as a parish family, grateful for the opportunity to resume our journey as a faith community. Though “socially distanced” we have shared the rigors of pandemic; now we can share the joys of reunion, albeit tempered by the absolute need to follow CDC safety guidelines. Following these guidelines, we are caring for creation, thoughtfully protecting one another from harm.
In reunion there are joys to celebrate. Among them is the successful completion of the rain tank and VIP latrines at Bulukhombe Primary School in Kenya. These new facilities were made possible in part by the generous contributions of St. Thomas the Apostle parishioners. Lack of fresh water, as well as sanitation and hygiene facilities, cause the closure of Kenyan schools. (Read how Kenyan schools struggle to provide a safe environment for students.
Your gift has contributed not only to the physical well-being of the children who attend Bulukhombe Primary School, but also to their mental and emotional health, allowing their education to continue. While Kenyan schools remain closed due to COVID-19, these new water and sanitation facilities will be ready and waiting for the students' return. Learn more about the facilities and see pictures of your gift.
