In the Gospel Jesus says to his disciples – and also to us – “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you …Receive the Holy Spirit!” (Jn 20:21-22)
And so we are charged to be Easter People living our lives in recognition of “fraternity and respect for the sacredness of every human life, every man, woman and child, the elderly, the poor, the infirm, the unborn, the unemployed, the abandoned, our earth and all of creation”. (Pope Francis Laudato Si’).
Action step for households:
In recognition of
Earth Day, April 22, plan to extend this celebration to the whole year by recycling, choosing lawn care products that do not harm the earth, being aware of the use of water, planting a garden, visiting Farmers’ Markets, using reusable shopping bags, supporting legislation that respects and cares for the earth and its people, and spending time outdoors to enjoy the gifts of creation given to us by our Loving God
