In every celebration for the dead, the Church invites the family to direct the words and music most meaningful to the deceased and those gathered together for the Celebration of the Funeral Mass. In addition, family and loved ones often participate in the Mass by reading and bringing up the gifts.
After meeting with our Pastor, consider which readings and music you would like at the Mass. Please select three readings: 1) the First reading (typically from the Old Testament), 2) the Second Reading (typically from the New Testament) and 3) the Gospel. We have a list of particularly appropriate passages on our Funeral Reading page for your review.
Please also select five to six songs: 1) Entrance hymn, 2) Responsorial Psalm, 3) Offertory hymn; 4) Communion hymn, 5) Recessional hymn and 6) optionally a Communion Meditation hymn. For your consideration. we have a list and links to classic hymns on our Funeral Music page.
You may also select between 2 different versions of the Prayer of the Faithful. These two version are found on our Funeral Readings page
If you prefer not to make those choices, Parish staff and Father are happy to assist in the selections.
Catholic readings and hymns not listed on our Funeral Readings and Music pages may be used but must be appropriate for a Funeral liturgy, sacred in nature and may need approval by the Pastor and/or Music Director.
First, review your options for Funeral Readings and Funeral Music by following the links on this page, listed under "Funeral Planning." On those pages, you can read the passages and listen to the hymns. Please note that the Gospel Reading is chosen by the celebrating Priest. Once you have decided on your readings and music, please indicate your selections below and press the SUBMIT button to send to the Pastor:
